Observations on a bus (part 3)...

The world flies past the window in a blur and the setting sun washes everything in a creamy butterscotch colour. The dotted lines on the freeway blend into one long line that leads us all toward home.

The bus rounds a corner and the usually packed freeway is nearly empty of cars. We are all pressed back into our seats as the bus picks up speed. The blurred landscape adds to the feeling of flying as we top a hill and begin to rocket down the other side. Gravity seems to lose it's hold on us as we reach the bottom of the hill. I see the driver grinning in his overhead mirror when he sees that many passengers are holding their arms in the air like on a roller coaster ride.

Our collective excitement seeps out as someone in the back yells, "Woo hoo!" Amid the scattered laughter you can hear the breathless joy of the long forgotten children in each of us. "Can we do that again?" someone else asks.

"Afraid not," the driver says with disappointment clear in his voice. Then we all notice the building traffic in front of us. The bus slows and exits after a few more miles.

As the bus rolls to a halt at the first stop after our freeway ride, the driver's voice crackles to life over the intercom. "Today's E-ticket ride was brought to you by the nice folks at the Metropolitan Transit Authority. We hope you enjoyed the ride and be sure to tell your friends. Ya'll have a nice night."

wendydarling,

So far all my bus drivers have been great, but this series is fictional. Just my imagination running wild during my ride. And I love you too! :)
