New Poetry Saturday....

Okay this probably won't become a weekly thing. I just happened to write something today.

This poem was a bit of a tease. I was out and about when the first three stanzas hit me. I almost couldn't get home fast enough to get the words down. Then just as suddenly as the words came, they left. I knew it wasn't finished but I couldn't hear the ending yet. As I got ready to file it away as yet another unfinished poem, the last two stanzas hit me in a rush.

So without further ado, here is my latest creation. I would appreciate any and all comments and criticism. I'll try not to take it personally. :P

once

no one will ever love you like i can
i would die for you but it looks like i’m alone
you’ll find yourself old, unhappy, and lonely
when you figure it out the chance will be gone

with me you could have had it all
your wishes and dreams come true
we could have made such a happy life
but we won’t and the one to blame is you

i’ve touched all of you, body and soul
with word and hand left you wanting more
showed you heights you’ve never known
and made you feel better than before

after i’m gone you will finally realize
just how good your life with me had been
you’ll always regret letting me get away
sending me off to the new life i’m in

one day it will hit you exactly what you’ve lost
but by then there will be nothing you can do
it will be too late and all that will be left
is the memory that i once loved you

That is really beautiful. I have felt like that before. And in the end they have realized what they lost. Too late!!! Then you find someone perfect for you. Like Laslo. Your Laslo is still out there, and will be lucky to have you!!!!

Love ya!!!!

I never know if your poetry that has a "you" in it is directed at anyone in particular, or if it's a fictional you. Sometimes I wonder if you know ;-)

This one has song-like qualities to me. (and yes I know a song is merely a poem to music but you know what I mean I hope)

Queenie, thank you. Don't let the poem fool you. I'm not looking for my Laslo. Life is complicated enough. So no worries.

Margo, I often don't know. I say all the time that I have no clue where some of my poems come from. They just appear in my head. And just so you know it felt like it had music too, but I don't write music. Just words. :P

Princess,

I wasn't looking for mine either when I found him. You never know.:)

I have had to read the poem several times to REALLY appreciate it. I do now. :-) I have felt this way MANY times in my life. Unfortunately, I have also been on the "other side" of this poem as well. Both are hard.

Wendy darling, I've been on both sides of it too and frankly neither is very fun. So much so that I think I'll just leave love to everyone else. My life is far too complicated as it is.

Wes, thank you so very much. There are a couple of lines that after I'd written them, I thought of you and your current situation. One day that silly girl is going to realize she really screwed up. You're a catch and she's an idiot. :)

I felt the heart in this one Sis. Especially because of the past few months and the stuff you know about. I know you probably didn't write it just for me but sometimes I'll read one of your beautiful poems and feel like it was just for me. Thank you.

Sis, I think that is the best compliment I've ever received. Thank you. :)
